Resolution 14-4

Supporting Collaboration and Communication among Agencies and Local Entities

Whereas most of Eastern Montana is located in the heart of sage grouse country and other controversial issues; such as bison reintroduction and relocation, study of possible new wildlife management study areas or new federal monuments;

Whereas now is a critical time for conservation and maintaining local conservation efforts is very important for the state to prevent federal management of our species and resources;

Whereas non-local environmental groups with specific agendas are increasingly active in Montana, and the voice of the local people may be lost, Conservation Districts shall step up as their voice;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Montana Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) contact and encourage the development of memoranda of understanding (MOU’s) among the agencies, colleges and research teams, non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) and conservation districts to encourage collaboration, cooperation and communication among NGO’s, state and federal agencies with local people such as producers, field office staff, district staff and supervisors, and county commissioners.
