News From the Front April 21
April 21, 2017
Friday 21st April is day 82 of the 90 day Session. The Legislator’s on-line calendar ends on Friday, 28th April. We want these dark clouds because they bring rain.
The week according to Jeff…
Dear Readers:
It’s good to be back in Montana. It remains the best place I’ve ever been.
This is a very short edition of News From the Front. There are very few hearings to report on. Most of the bills we’ve been tracking are at their end point – pass or fail – or on the Governor’s desk awaiting action. Things are moving either very quickly or not in public. Decisions about the budget and infrastructure and bonding, the three big remaining items, are being discussed by leadership of the Executive and Legislative branches.
I’m working on a summary (one-or-two-sentences-per-bill) final NFTF that will be published when the Session ends or when the Governor’s responsibilities end. After the dust settles, I’ll use that summary to briefly describe the bill and include a link to the bill. If you’ve become a political junkie and cannot live without details, you may check previous editions of NFTF for the history of the bill and details about what it does or doesn’t do. Or you may contact MACD or DNRC with questions.
Remember that you are able to watch or listen to any hearing from your computer, either live hearings or hearings held days ago. Scroll through the Video and Audio – Session section at this link: http://leg.mt.gov/css/default.asp to find the appropriate committee.
Lend us a hand…
Thank your legislators for their hard work and invite them to your events.
Thanks to all of you who are reading this brief report.
Jeff
