House Ag Committee advances Farm Bill

(via NASCA) The U.S. House of Representatives Agriculture Committee passed its version of the Farm Bill on May 23. The bill passed on a vote of 33-21, with four Democrats voting in favor. House Ag Committee Chairman G.T. Thompson (Pennsylvania) was quoted by Politico: “This is a robust farm bill proposal that puts in a serious way farm back into the farm bill, and it is well received by key stakeholders throughout the agriculture industry.”

On the Senate side, ranking member Debbie Stabenow (Michigan) released an outline earlier this month, but she has yet to conference with Senate Republicans.
